If I switch, where will my electricity come from?
Your current electric utility or "Local Wires Company" will continue to deliver your electricity. As such, your power will come from a regional power pool – a mixture of energy from traditional power plants and other sources like wind, water, sun and natural gas. Your Local Wires Company still responds to service interruptions and continues to maintain the poles and wires. You will continue to receive the same reliable service you are used to with your Local Wires Company, regardless of which Retail Electric Provider or ESCO you receive service from.
• Con Edison still delivers your energy, but now you can choose to buy your electricity and natural gas from a number of Energy Service Companies (ESCOs).
• Wondering if you can get a better deal for your energy needs? Explore your choices and decide what's best for you. Some suppliers offer special incentives and online signup.
• Con Edison will continue to be your energy delivery company. When you buy energy from an ESCO, Con Edison will still deliver your electricity and gas safely and reliably. We'll always be there for you in a service emergency. No matter who you choose for your energy supply, you will still receive the same level of customer service from Con Edison.
